Something More Sure (Part 1)
Do you want to hear God speaking to you? You can! Amazing? Yes! Out of this world? No, this experience is to be had very much in this world and can be had every day. Sounds amazing, doesn’t it? Can you imagine God speaking to you-personally, certainly, authoritatively? Well, the good news is that every single one of us can hear God today, right here, right now, at this very moment. God still speaks. And he has a Word for us that is sure, steady, and unerring.
How? Just read your Bible! It is that simple. Through stories, narratives, parables, commandments and stunning imagery God has inscripturated His Will for our lives in the black and white text of the Bible.
What does God expect of me today?
Does life have any meaning?
Why am I on this planet?
Why does life seem so unfair?
Does it matter how I live
What happens after I die?
What about all the bad people in the world?
Where can I find peace and hope?
What do I do with the hurt in my life?
Everything you need to know is in the Bible. Indeed, someone has cleverly defined the bible as ‘Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth’! I do wonder how much you would be willing to pay for an authoritative answer to even one of the above questions. So how truly amazing that God has given his answer to all of the above and much more! All of this is within easy reach of all of us. Listen to what God says-
“For this commandment that I command you today is not too hard for you, neither is it far off. 12 It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will ascend to heaven for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ 13 Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ 14 But the word is very near you. It is in your mouth and in your heart, so that you can do it.
(Deuteronomy 30.11-14)
